In 2000, Places Rated Almanac rated Cleveland the No. 2 city in the U.S. for recreation. Sports, leisure activities, and just plain fun abound here. You’ll find plenty of ways to spend your free time with friends and family--and ways to meet new friends too!

- Cycle the tree-lined paths of the 19,000-acre Metroparks (the country’s largest city park system) or hike the 32,000- acre Cuyahoga Valley Recreation Area.
- Get “amused”--Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky and Geauga Lake in Aurora.
- Try cross-country or downhill skiing, ice skating, ice fishing, or tobogganing.
- Take in the annual Cleveland National Air Show and Grand Prix of Cleveland--both right downtown, or any of the community festivals, fairs, and special events throughout Greater Cleveland.
- Wander through the nation’s largest arboretum or one of the country’s largest zoological parks.
- Take a pleasure cruise, see a WWII submarine or restored steamship, or enjoy a trolley tour of the city.
